At Klassic Rides, we
understand that undertaking a classic car
restoration can be an intimidating process.
It’s not easy to turn over something
you love for a long time to people you don’t
know. That’s why we take the time to
get to know our customers as well as we do
their cars, walking them through every step
of the restoration process from start to
finish.
No doubt you will have countless questions
when you are considering a classic car
repair shop to complete your car restoration.
Hopefully this list of the questions we’re
asked most often will answer many of them.
Please feel free to read through the list,
then contact us directly
with any other questions you might have.
We want you to be completely comfortable
with Klassic Rides as your choice for your
classic car restoration or custom car painting.
Out of all the classic car repair shops
in NC, the southeast, or across the country,
you won’t find anyone else who loves
your classic car as much as we do.
Q:
How much will it cost me to restore
my Classic car?
Due to all the unforeseen
repairs on any restoration project it is
impossible to answer this question. The
true cost only starts to be seen when tear
down begins and the rebuilding process
is on the way, which is why all of our
work is on a time and materials basis.
You have to remember we are not a collision
shop but a restoration business. You, the
customer, can add or take away some cost
due to the level of completion that you
want us to perform. We have customers that
do a lot of work themselves and bring it
to us for body work and paint only.
Q: Will you do just body work and custom car painting without restoring
it completely?
Yes, we have different
options when it comes to just a paint job.
Our standard paint job is a 2 stage PPG
system in which all chrome, fenders, doors
and glass is removed; the body work process
and paint is the same as when we do a complete
restoration. The second option is what
we call a “daily driver Classic”,
in which the chrome, windows & rubber
trim would be taped off, and the doors
and fenders would not be removed etc. Paint
will be a single stage type and body prep
will not be the same as option one, this
is for the budget minded that want a daily
driver that looks good going down the road.
Q: How long will my restoration take?
There is not a time
line that can be held on a complete restoration,
as you never know what you may run across
as you get into the project. Trim & paint
can hide many types of restoration that
may be needed. Projects can range from
months to years. Every vehicle is different,
even if it is the same make and year, it
is all in how well it was taken care of
from the day it came off the showroom floor.
We keep detailed photos from start to finish,
which the customer will receive a copy
of at the time of delivery.
Q: What type of paint will you put on my Classic Car?
We use the Deltron 2000
(DBC), a PPG paint system. We can, at the Customers request,
get any line of PPG paint. We are PPG Certified
to use PPG paint.
